The Chase’s Bradley Walsh lands major ITV role for star-studded show

He’s on the television every night on The Chase and now Bradley Walsh has been announced as the host of a star studded annual event – the Royal Variety Performance.

A permanent fixture on TV for decades now, thanks to his time in the cast of Coronation Street and as the host of numerous game shows, Bradley is, of course, now best known for being at the helm of ITV’s daily quiz show and its successful spin-off Beat The Chasers. And soon he’ll be making the step from the set of The Chase to the Royal Albert Hall, for this year’s Variety Performance.

The news was confirmed by ITV on Wednesday evening, with former Royal Variety performer Bradley over the moon to be given the prestigious gig. He commented: “I am so excited to be presenting this year’s show. It’s been 30 years this year since I first performed at The Royal Variety Performance, so what an absolute honour to be hosting. The line-up is incredible and I can’t wait for you all to see what I have in store.”

As well as Bradley being announced as RVP host, ITV have also released details of who will be entertaining at this year’s event. Big names set to grace the stage of the Royal Albert Hall include Cher, on the back of the music icon releasing her first ever Christmas album; McFly, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary; singers Rick Astley, Melanie C and Paloma Faith and this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner, Viggo Venn.

One of the major highlights of this year’s show, which will air on ITV1 in December, looks set to be a celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, featuring the casts of The Lion King, Frozen, Aladdin, Hercules and Beauty & The Beast.
