Simon Jordan praises Newcastle atmosphere as ‘no one wants to play at St James’ Park’

Newcastle United are the side that ‘no one wants to play at St James’ Park’, according to former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan. The Magpies suffered only a second defeat in their last 10 matches as they slipped to a 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

That the Gunners were able to beat a team as strong as Newcastle right now shows just what a ‘very good side’ Arsenal are this season. With a game in hand on fifth-place Liverpool and two points clear of Man United in fourth, Newcastle’s Champions League destiny remains in their own hands.

“That Newcastle side, irrespective of whether Arsenal were leading the way or second in the league, were the side that no one wants to play at St James’ Park.” Jordan told Talksport.

“Whoever you are, wherever you were in that particular title race, or wherever you were in the league, to go to Newcastle and, ostensibly, despite the first 10 minutes, shut that game down and be the better side on the pitch and play against a cacophony of noise that the Newcastle fans bring tells you that Arsenal are a very good side.”
