Primark shoppers can snap up £7 retro bag inspired by £3,000 Chanel version

Primark shoppers can get their hands on another designer dupe to get a high-end look for much less – this time with a retro-style bag.

The high street giant is selling a Faux Leather Quilted Bumbag for £7, which is styled with a gold-tone chain strap threaded with black faux leather detailing, a gold zip and a criss-cross quilted pattern. Primark describes the bag as “bringing a sense of glamour to a retro utilitarian piece”, and the stylish touches bear a strong resemblance to an iconic designer brand.

Some shoppers have compared the accessory to Chanel’s Quilted Lambskin Bumbag, and while there are of course a few differences between the dupe and the high-end version, the main one is the price. Chanel no longer sells the bumbag, meaning that pre-loved ones are in high demand for fashion fans who want that retro look – and will set you back somewhere in the region of £3,000, the Liverpool Echo reports.

TikTok user @latestdeals pointed out the similarities between the two bags in a video showing off a number of Primark dupes, which also included comparisons to Prada, Balenciaga and Dior accessories. Primark is well-known for taking inspiration from expensive brands, enabling shoppers to achieve a similar look while sometimes saving thousands.

Earlier this year one customer discovered a £7 silver shoulder bag available in stores that bore a striking resemblance to a £2,500 version from Prada. And for those who want to complete their Chanel look, Primark has also been spotted selling £12 sandals that look very similar to the designer’s Ivory Knitwear sandals – which would set you back a whopping £1,140 by comparison.

While Primark doesn’t offer an online shop, the retailer does have a website where shoppers can see its latest products and check if they’re in stock before heading into stores to purchase them. The £7 bumbag bag is in stores now.
