
Police are investigating allegations a man had ‘part of his ear bitten off’ during a night out in Newcastle.
Northumbria Police officers released an image of a man they’re seeking to speak to following the alleged incident, which is understood to have taken place at around 1.30am on Sunday, September 17. The police said the force received a report that a man had attempted to intervene in a dispute between another man and a woman in Grainger Street.
It has been alleged to police that, as this man tried to intervene, he was assaulted by the second man. It was reported that he was assaulted and had part of his ear bitten off, his glasses broken, and was left with facial injuries.
The victim attended hospital for treatment and was later discharged. Subsequently, officers launched an investigation into the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
The man pictured in the image released by the police is understood to have been in the area at the time of the alleged assault – and officers are keen to speak with him.
