Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has expressed his immense pride in the team and atmosphere at St. James’ Park despite the defeat to Arsenal. The Premier League title hopefuls ran out 2-0 winners on Tyneside to keep the pressure on rivals Manchester City.
A first-half strike from Martin Odegaard and a Fabian Schar own goal ensured Mikel Arteta’s side of all three points. The atmosphere at St. James’ Park in the build-up to the game was electric and that carried on throughout.
However, the defeat sees the Magpies’ gap to Liverpool cut to just three points given Jurgen Klopp’s side winning at Brentford. The Toon have a game in hand on the Reds and can move six points clear with a win while they also play Leeds next weekend, two days before Liverpool take on Leicester City.
Newcastle are still buoyant heading into their final four games, with the atmosphere on Tyneside brilliant this season.
Reuben tweeted: “Obviously disappointed with the result but what a privilege it is to come to SJP these days, the atmosphere was just electric- thank you. Can’t fault the team for their intensity and work rate too sometimes you just need a bit of luck”
Fellow owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi echoed that sentiment. He replied: “Couldn’t agree more.”
