Jamie Foxx’s family is “preparing for the worst” after the actor was rushed to hospital while filming his latest Netflix film Back in Action.
The actor was treated for a medical emergency last month, with report suggesting the situation was “serious enough” for his close family to rush to his bedside. Now a source has told Radar that “his friends and family are hoping for the best – but preparing for the worst.”
Recent updates on Jamie’s condition are hopeful though, as sources reveal that he has shown signs of improvement.
But cautious measures are being taken by medics, who are conducting further tests before granting him permission to leave the hospital and doctors have reportedly advised Jamie to prioritise keeping his stress levels low.
“Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now,” the source told People. “[Doctors] are doing more tests and want to be completely sure that he will be okay before allowing him to leave the hospital.”
While details on the situation have remained under wraps, Sources told Radar that he’s “doing OK and improving, while doctors try to get to the bottom of his problems,” but he “wouldn’t be in a hospital this long if he was anything close to OK.”
They added that Jamie’s recovery has been “touch and go” and at one stage he “had to be revived” by emergency room physicians who saved the actor. “He is very lucky to be alive!” said the source.
According to a second source, Jamie’s tireless work ethic has taken a toll on his health, and his high blood pressure puts him at risk of developing blood clots that could result in a stroke. Another insider added that the actor’s health crisis was something that had been looming for a while.
They said: “He’s very lucky he got the treatment he did.”
His daughter Corinne shared an Instagram statement about the health scare last month, writing: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” the statement read in addition. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
The actor was swiftly taken to the hospital to receive medical attention. People confirmed that his incident did not happen while he was on the set of his upcoming film Back in Action , which he is filming alongside co-stars Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close, and he was not transported to the hospital by emergency vehicle.
On 3 May, the actor broke his silence for the first time since news of his health concern was made public, taking to Instagram to share an update and thank his followers for their support.
The actor wrote: “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed.”
