This Morning host Josie Gibson has revealed the reason she decided to sign up for I’m A Celebrity – even though she’s “crap with any creepy crawlies”.
The 38-year-old says she is doing the show for champagne and money. She admits ITV bosses offered her too much money to turn down – not to mention return business class flights with unlimited bubbles.
She added: “I’m most excited about the flight. I can’t wait to fly business class. Apparently it’s unlimited champagne, so I’m really excited about being a Champagne Annie for 21 hours. I’ve got a business class flight there and a business class flight back.”
She also revealed that her family were stunned when she told them she’d been booked for the show. “My family are worried,” she told the Mirror. “I’m crap with any creepy crawlies or spiders.
“Even the thought of it, urgh! It sounded like a good idea at the time, but then reality sets in and you think, ‘Wow, what have I done?’”
To get through the Bushtucker Trials, Josie is relying on adrenaline and her favourite Fleetwood Mac song. “You know that song, Everywhere? I’ve got to have that song in my head when I’m doing the trials – that’s like a meditation for me. Hopefully it will get me through it.”
Josie said being parted from her beloved son Reggie, five, is going to be the toughest challenge for her. She added: “I’m going to miss my little boy. I’ve never gone a whole day without contact with him. I’m going to miss my little man – that is a big worry for me.”
At the end of Josie’s stint Reggie will be waiting at the hotel for her, and then Josie plans to show him the joys of Australia. “My best friend and my godson are bringing him over so he’ll enjoy the experience,” Josie says. “He’ll remember Australia rather than the three weeks I wasn’t around.”
Other celebrities rumoured to be in the starting line-up include Nick Pickard, Nigel Farage and Danielle Harold, while Frankie Dettori has been spotted near the studios. Other names in the mix include Grace Dent, Alan Halsall and Marvin Humes.
