Holly Willoughby has revealed she’s started her ice bath journey after working with Wim Hof last year.
The 42 year old This Morning presenter, who was applauded after showing off her ‘impressive’ homemade Coronation cake at the weekend, took to Instagram on Monday evening to share a video of herself taking her first ice bath.
Holly sported a multicoloured swimsuit and a burgundy knitted hat as she submerged herself into the freezing water, and looked excited as she got to grips with the ice bath.
“Right let’s begin this icy journey!” she told her followers, before revealing it’s taken her a whole year to take the plunge and get into an ice bath.
“After working with @iceman_hof and the whole #freezethefear team, it’s taken a year, but I’m finally doing it for you… didn’t last long but build up slowly right?” Holly added.
“Wow, that was bloody cold but I did feel incredible after… @brassmonkeyice I did it! #ice #breathe”.
The mum-of-three’s followers and fellow celeb pals flocked to comment on the video, with Alison Hammond writing: “Yes Holly well done,” with a fire emoji, while Tamzin Outhwaite left a row of raised hands emojis.
A fan of Holly’s said: “Well done I did my first ice bath yesterday for 3 mins (loved it and did it twice!)” and a second person said: “Your brave holly well done”.
There’s believed to be many benefits of using ice baths, such as helping to ease sore and aching muscles, decreasing the impact of heat and boosting your immune system.
Holly was influenced to get into ice baths after working with extreme athlete Wim Hof, AKA The Iceman, in April 2022 on the BBC One show Freeze The Fear with Wim Hof.
The reality TV competition, hosted by Holly and comedian Lee Mack, saw eight celebrities, including Tamzin Outhwaite, Dianne Buswell and Professor Green, be trained by Wim and take part in a series of challenges in sub-zero temperatures.
While the eight-part BBC show proved to be a hit with viewers, there are currently no plans for a second series, according to reports.
A TV insider told The Sun earlier this year: “Never say never, but as it stands no decision has been made on the future of the show.”
