It’s one of the biggest decisions of pregnancy. No, not the baby’s name – the pram!
Do you go for many a city mum’s fave, the ever popular Bugaboo Bee, retailing at £461 (rising to at least £600 if you go for the carrycot so your newborn can snooze in comfort). Or perhaps you want to splurge on an iCandy like Molly Mae in a fetching pastel shade, yours for £1,199 for the full package, complete with infant car seat and even a parasol for those three sunny days a year.
Maybe this is your second child and instead you pick a practical, proud to be British, McLaren for a rather more sensible £65? Spoiler first time mums – whatever fancy brand name you pick, you’ll eventually end up with an easy to use umbrella pushchair – either McLaren or one of the cheaper knock offs – stuffed in the car boot or shed.
For celebrities the choice is even more complicated, with Instagram grid posts and sponsorship deals to consider. For Gogglebox’s Ellie Warner, excitedly prepping for her first child, it’s a classic £3000 Silvercross pram, beloved of the Essex set and Royalty alike, that has won her over. It’s a solid choice – rather literally, as the famed pram’s are handcrafted in Yorkshire, with gliding suspension, gleaming chrome wheels, and a pure cotton mattress. It’s also the pram picked by various other celebs, including Charlotte Dawson, who recycled the same one she was pushed in by her famous dad Les.

While a Silvercross Balmoral retails new for £3,000 – a huge amount to splurge – there are subtle signs that straight-talking Ellie has sensibly picked hers up second hand. The colourway is out of stock online, while the wheels are already looking a little used, if still in great shape.
The prams, which are after all only needed until baby is sitting up before being relegated to the hallway for naps, have a strong resale value as they are built to be handed down to younger siblings and even new generations.
Proudly sharing pictures of the stunning turquoise hued pram in her hallway, with her pet dog adorably nestled inside, Ellie, 32, wrote on Insta: “Little monkey testing out the pram! Sorry to break it to you Mick but you are not allows in there!”

The mum to be’s fans were quick to congratulate the hairdresser, including sister Izzi, with who she discussed the week’s telly on Gogglebox.
“What do you mean it’s not Mick’s new bed,” the mortgage advisor joked.
Ellie announced she’d gone for a “old fashioned pram” on last week’s episode of the Channel 4 show – and fans have been chomping for a glimpse ever since.
One wrote: “I adore your pram. I made my husband rewind cause he missed the bit where you said you’ve got a big silver cross pam.”
Another added: “I love that you’ve gone for a proper old fashioned pram not a new fangled tripod thing.” And a third gushed: “That’s what you call a pram!”
Perhaps we’ll get to see the pram – and potentially even it’s new occupant – on Friday’s Gogglebox.
