Travis, 22, found himself at the centre of a fix row after fans discovered he had starred in two episodes of BBC medical drama Casualty.
According to his IMDb page, Travis has appeared in two episodes of the popular series, one in 2022 and the second earlier this year. He has also appeared in one episode of daytime soap Doctors, and ten episodes of The A Word.
This TV background was enough for BGT viewers to claim that the talent competition must be “fixed” – a claim that Travis has hit back at.
In an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, the singing sensation told stand-in host Christine Lampard: “I find it so interesting – my first controversy. I’ve only been in the limelight for two minutes.
“This is a weird thing that I’m some famous actor. I’ve got to set the record straight. I’ve never been trained as an actor or a singer. I had no clue what I was doing when I got on that stage – trust me, I didn’t.”
He continued: “Britain’s Got Talent had no idea about my very small amount of acting before I went on it. I had to tell them before I got the opportunity.
“That’s how famous I am, they didn’t even know. I haven’t been educated in the arts.”
This isn’t the first time this series that the popular ITV show has accused of being “fixed”, with fans previously left annoyed after judge Amanda Holden invited a young girl named Olivia Lynes to audition, only to then press the golden buzzer for her.
Viewers were less than impressed by this as they took to Twitter, with one saying: “What’s the point of this show? She’s hand-picked by Amanda, who then gives her a Golden Buzzer, what a fix #BritainsGotTalent.”
Another said: “Called it #fix #BritainsGotTalent,” whilst a third tweeted: “So Amanda invited her onto the show, so she could push the golden buzzer? #bgt.”
Amanda has since spoken out about the incident, as she told MailOnline: “So I didn’t know if I was allowed to press it for her because I’d actually met her the day before as part of our golden moments and encouraged her to come down and audition.
“But when I met her I had no idea if she could sing, and then was absolutely blown away by her performance.”
Olivia was thrilled at the reaction to her performance as she said: “I can’t remember everything she said because I was so excited. I ran up to her and hugged her really tightly. When she asked if I would audition on BGT I said of course I would!”
