The supermarket has brought British Strawberry Gin Liqueur to the shelves for £8.99 for the occasion, best served over ice with a light tonic or ginger ale and a mint garnish. Made in collaboration with Penrhos Spirits, the fruity liqueur with notes of Juniper is the newest addition to the popular Infusionist range, with other flavours including Watermelon and Lime Gin Liqueur as well as Peach on the Beach, Pina Colada and Margarita cocktails.
Also new in the Infusionist range is Scottish Raspberry Gin Liqueur, priced at £8.99, which Aldi suggests serving with tonic, soda, or as part of a celebratory Champagne cocktail over the Coronation weekend. Fans of the collection may remember the light-up glitter British Strawberry with Mint Gin Liqueur, which was released last year to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Aldi is also introducing a range of coronation chicken-themed party food for anyone planning to celebrate the historic royal occasion this weekend, with prices starting from £1.79. Available from May 4, the selection includes Coronation Chicken Pizza, Coronation Mini Kievs, Coronation Chicken Kebabs, Breaded Chicken Crowns, Coronation Chicken Sandwiches, and even Coronation Mayonnaise.
The retailer even brought out special Kevin the Carrot soft toys to mark the event, in the form of the ‘King and Queen of veg’ – which happen to bear a striking resemblance to Charles and Camilla – for £3.99 each. But shoppers will be lucky to get their hands on them – the souvenir toys quickly sold out at many Aldi stores across the UK, and are even going for as much as £100 on eBay after overwhelming demand.
Aldi has also launched a huge bank holiday sale on outdoor furniture and gardening essentials in its Specialbuys range. The sale offers up to 60% off over a hundred items, including barbeques, seating, hot tubs and fire pits.
